The Best Ever Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport

The latest addition to the sports car Corvette lineup, Grand Sports has become the top-selling Corvette. The Corvette Grand Sport is an intimidating car for the competitor that has outranked them both in performance and sales. Every American wants to someday own a Corvette, not just any sports car but Corvette. No car can give you performance and power at this price like Corvette Grand Sport. It combines the power of Stingray Z51 with the handling capacity of Z06.

The Corvette is the result of the GM’s dream to build a sports car that could compete with the Jaguar’s or Lamborghini’s. Known as Vette or Chevy Corvette, the Corvette has come a long way from its first avatar in 1953 to the futuristic Grand Sport 2017. The car was named after a small and maneuverable warship Corvette by Myron Scott. The first generation Corvette was introduced as a concept car in 1953 for the display at the Motorama Auto Show in New York. The people showed great interest in the car and so GM started production for the public on 30th June 1953. With the coming years and passing generations, Corvette continued to incorporate new technologies and has been redesigned and redefined to what the new seventh-generation Corvettes is including the Grant Sport.

The Grand Sport has evolved many times throughout its lifecycle. The 1963 Grand Sport was a demon crafted from the lightweight materials and packed the power of a 6.2L 377 CI small block V8 engine to dominate its rivals. Only 5 of these cars were made as a prototype but it returned to production in 1996. The 1996 Corvette Grand sport had a high-performance LT4 V8 engine with a ZR1 chassis. This again changed to a 436 HP 6,2L LS3 V8 engine with Z06 chassis in 2010. The 2010 Grand Sport achieved 0 to 60 mark in just 3.95 seconds and offering 26 MPG highway fuel economy. The new 2017 Grand Sports doesn’t lose its predecessors in terms of power with its 6.2L LT1 V8 engine that generates 460 HP with 465 lb-ft of torque making 0 to 60 in 3.6 seconds.

The 2017 Grand Sport has a compact design to lower the hood line and improve weight balance. Dry-sump oil system delivers oil even through while extreme cornering to deliver a constant high-performance. Two types of transmission are offered- a 7-speed manual or an 8-speed paddle-shift automatic, both offer quick and precise gear shifts. Grand Sport has lightweight 19-inch front wheels and 20-inch rear wheels covered with superb Michelin pilot Super Spot front and rear tires for tremendous grip during cornering and enormous stopping power.

The Corvette has 5 mode selectors that allow drivers to tune the performance according to the road conditions and driving preferences. Each mode optimizes steering to power for better performance.

  1. Eco mode- Utilizes active fuel management to reduce the engine labor and conserve fuel.
  2. Weather Mode- Senses the road conditions and accordingly distribute power to the rear wheels for better grip.
  3. Tour mode- Tour Mode is the default setting. Improved comfort for long driving with better shock damping.
  4. Sports Mode– When you require unleashing the full power of the V8 engine.
  5. Track Mode– Designed for track driving makes the systems most responsive for better track performance.

All in all, the 2017 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport manages to perform according to the norms set by its predecessors and has even left them behind with its superior performance.
