Due to the growing concerns about the environment and global warming, car manufacturers are opting for electric powered vehicles. The use of electric vehicles can decrease the carbon emissions and reduce the effect of the greenhouse effect. Though there are many manufacturers that are producing electric cars, the bus and truck segment hasn’t seen much progress. Buses are an important form of public transportation in a city and can greatly contribute to the carbon footprint of an area. Like the name suggests, electric buses are buses that are powered by electric batteries and motor instead of diesel engines. The ECO-LIFE is a 100% electric vehicle, meaning it uses the energy stored in the battery to run the vehicle. Some electric buses have a diesel engine that charges the battery power. The electric bus is expected to save up to 959 tons of carbon dioxide and 350,000 liters of diesel over its 10-year operation. Powered by a fast charging lithium-ion battery, it can run up to 10-15 hours, depending upon the traffic conditions. The battery can be charged through plug-in charging ports as well as a pantograph. The electricity from the battery is used to power the four-pole, asynchronous traction motor which is the heart of the bus. The power usage of the motor can be adjusted according to the demographical and geographical conditions of the route it takes. Moreover, it offers a flexible solution to a green and clean public transport system.

The JBM Solaris ECO-Life electric buses are just at the right time when the concern for the environment has been growing throughout the world. With the use of fast charging batteries and pantograph, the bus can charge at Bus stops. Though the charging time may not be very much, it can still increase the range. Moreover, the batteries can be changed in less than 4 minutes, which ensures that they can operate without any problem. Batteries can also be charged when the bus is stopped. This is very effective as most of the energy is wasted when a vehicle has to stop. But in this bus, whenever the driver pulls the brake, the energy will be used to charge the battery.

It also integrated with lots of features like passenger Information System, GPS, Vehicle Health monitoring, battery management system, and other safety mechanisms. The structure of the bus adheres to the European safety standards. It also features an electronic braking system, wheelchair ramp, independent front suspensions, and touchscreen display on the dashboard. It also has kneeling mechanisms to enhance passenger boarding and de-boarding and can kneel 60mm. All the features make ECO-LIFE the most innovative electric bus that is to come in 2018.
